- Check the NRB licensed PSO/PSP list
- Match the brand with the legal company name
- Never share OTP/PIN/password
Payment services also need regulatory verification
Digital wallets, gateways and other payment services can spread quickly. An app-store listing, social-media following or advertisement does not by itself prove regulatory status.
Use NRB’s licensed-institutions list
Nepal Rastra Bank’s Payment Systems Department publishes lists of licensed Payment System Operators (PSOs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs). Match the provider’s legal name before using the service.
Brand names can differ from company names
A wallet brand may be different from the legal company name. Check the provider’s terms, privacy page or official website and compare the legal entity with the NRB list.
Before sharing KYC or sending money
Use official apps and websites. Never share your OTP, PIN or password. If a promotion promises unusually high returns or pressures you to transfer money immediately, verify independently first.
Check again when you make the decision
Licensing lists can change. Check the latest NRB list on the day you use the service.
Verifying the legal entity and licensing status can reduce the risk of sending money or KYC information to an inappropriate service.
